A Message from Swen Carlson, Chairman of The Vision Council's Lab Division
Hello Lab Division Members,
For those who don’t know me, I’m Swen Carlson, your new Chairman of The Vision Council’s Lab Division. I’m assuming this role as Drake McLean transitions into the role of Immediate Past Chair.
First, let me start by thanking Drake for all the meaningful work he’s put into the Division over many years. His tireless drive to lead us in thinking about how we can better serve Lab Division members has been greatly appreciated by those of us who have witnessed it and provides a strong example for me to follow.
As for 2018, I’d like to focus on two goals: increasing voices and value.
We have already begun to take steps to increase the voices that influence what we consider on the steering committee. In this effort, we are starting this year with a significantly expanded steering committee. While adding members, we paid particular attention to widening the diversity and perspective our membership.
The following is your steering committee for 2018. Through the increased voices of these industry leaders (and unpaid volunteers) we hope to address the second goal, increasing the division’s value to you.
- Swen Carlson, VSP One
- Ron Cooke
- Matt Cummins, Walman Optical
- Koby Curtis, Younger Optics
- William Hefner, IV, FEA Industries
- Bernadette Hiskey, Carl Zeiss
- David Jochims, GS-Rx
- Jeff Konstanzer, Costco Optical
- Drake McLean, Dietz-McLean Optical
- Michael Nathe, Essilor
- Jody Parmer, Precise Optical Lab
- Lee Pickett, Lap Optical
- Greg Ruden, Expert Optics
- Tom Schroeder, Schroeder Optical
- Rick Tinson, Hoya Vision Care
I am honored to serve you as Chairman heading into this new year. Feel free to reach out to me, or any of the Lab steering committee members, to share anything you think will help us in our mission to better serve our industry and Lab Members.
Swen Carlson, Lab Division Chair
