February is Low Vision Awareness Month: Get Involved on Social Media

02/13/2019

In support of Low Vision Awareness Month, The Vision Council is committing resources to post and promote low vision messaging, as well as target appropriate audiences that might be experiencing low vision themselves or are care givers seeking more information on the topic.

Throughout February, keep an eye out for weekly permanent and story posts on The Vision Council's Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages highlighting low vision facts, and encouraging followers to visit whatislowvision.org for more information. The Vision Council is also making an effort to increase awareness among eyecare providers by getting the word out to them about the commemorative month.

Here are a few ways to get involved:

  • Repost or retweet posts from The Vision Council on your own social media channels, tagging The Vision Council
  • Create original posts for social media highlighting low vision facts, and encourage followers to visit whatislowvision.org for more information
  • Follow the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP) on Facebook for more resources to share on your own channels

For more information on Low Vision, visit whatislowvision.org, or contact Greg Chavez, The Vision Council's executive vice president of operations & membership at gchavez@thevisioncouncil.org or 703-740-1399.
