Keynote Speakers and Program
As the premier optical industry event, the Executive Summit focuses on the challenges, initiatives and accomplishments of our industry, all of which help set the stage for The Vision Council's direction for 2011 and beyond.
This year's keynote speakers include:
- Jon Landau, co-producer of Avatar and winner of three Academy Awards, demystifies 3D and illuminates the opportunities ahead in a discussion on 3D and the past, present and future of this technology.
- Todd Buchholz, former director of economic policy at the White House, will share his thoughts on the state of the economy in his speech titled, "The Economy: Heading higher or off a cliff?" Buchholz also brings an insider perspective on global opportunities, issues and challenges.
The 2011 program will include special breakouts on topics such as the impact and influence of social media, transformational leadership and employee vs. independent sales force structure, as well as an interactive panel discussion on the future of eyewear distribution channels. Smaller group discussions will also take place during breakfast roundtables and afternoon cabana chats.

Golf Tournament
The Vision Council golf tournament will be held Thursday, January 27, at 1:00 pm at the popular Doral Golf Resort with transportation and box lunch provided. The fee is $195. Please contact Linda Rollins at lrollins@thevisioncouncil.org if you have a preferred foursome. We will do our best to accommodate all requests and the final foursomes will be posted on-site. In addition, when registering for the Summit, please indicate if you will be renting clubs, right-handed or left-handed. This is for preparation purposes only for the golf shop and is not a reservation for rental. Please reserve your rental directly with the Doral Golf Resort at (305) 592-2000.

Reservations
The negotiated rate for members of The Vision Council is $299/night. In order to receive the special rate, reservations must be made by January 7, 2011. Reservations should be made directly with the hotel by calling (305) 761-2609 or (800) 241-3333 and referencing The Vision Council Executive Summit. Individual guestroom reservations may also be made on the Reservations page of www.ritzcarlton.com by entering OPTOPTA in the Corporate/Promo Codes space.
Travel Information
Miami International Airport is approximately a 15 minute drive from the Ritz Carlton and the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is approximately a 25 minute drive away. Numerous options for transportation-+ including car rental, taxi, sedan and shuttle service can be found at the airport.
